UPCOMING MEETINGS

The Kirkwood Public Library has cancelled all in-person youth library programs until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and our March, April, and May 2020 meetings at the library were cancelled.

Meetings are currently being held via the Zoom platform.

2022 meeting dates and details will be posted here.

Red Scarf Update!

We now have 29 red scarves to donate to Foster Care to Success' Red Scarf Project!!! Way to go everyone! Special shout out to member, Bella, for knitting 10 red scarves! October 25, 2015 KKIF Meeting!

We had a truly fabulous meeting today! We received 9 red scarves; 2 scarves and 1 hat for HavenHouse St. Louis; and an adorable blanket buddy for Newborns in Need of Eastern Missouri!!! Wonderful job everyone! Keep an eye out for new patterns--I'll be posting them here later today:)

October 14th, 2015 Meeting!

Tonight's meeting was a success! Several members started new projects, including one member who learned to knit in the round, and other members finished their projects. Several beautiful items were donated: a hat for HavenHouse St. Louis; a sweater, hat, and booties set and a bib for Newborns in Need of Eastern MO; and a scarf for the Foster Care to Success' Red Scarf Project! Great meeting and great work everyone!

October 3rd Donations!

Today we donated 7 hats, 3 pairs of baby booties, and 1 elephant baby lovey doll to Newborns in Need of Eastern Missouri! Great work everyone!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What's the recommended age to participate in this group?

Students must be in 4th grade and up to participate in Kids Knitting it Forward.

Is there a fee to be a member of Kids Knitting it Forward?

No! It is totally free.

Do I have to come to all of the meetings to be a part of the group?

No; come when it is convenient for you. It is okay to drop in when you're available.

What should I bring to meetings?

We have a limited supply of starting materials (knitting needles and yarn) for new knitters. If you already have supplies that you want to use, please bring them! The best needles for beginners are U.S. size 7, 8, or 9, 10" in length, and NOT double pointed or circular. They will have a knob or button at one end with a point at the other end.

What kinds of things will members be knitting?

Members will knit a variety of items including baby hats, baby booties, and baby afghans for Newborns in Need of Eastern Missouri; red scarves for former foster kids who are now in college via the Foster Care to Success' Red Scarf Project; and winter hats, scarves, and gloves for HavenHouse St. Louis guests. We will provide patterns for all skill levels for these projects.

I have supplies (yarn, needles, etc) to donate-what things are you looking for?

We will happily accept donations of any kind or color of yarn (baby, sport, wool, etc). In terms of needles, we will accept any, but since there are so many new knitters in the group, U.S. size 7, 8, or 9, 10" in length, and non-double pointed and non-circular are best. We also accept gift cards to craft stores and knitting notions, such as gauges and sewing needles. Please contact kidsknittingitforward@gmail.com to coordinate a donation! Thank you!
