UPCOMING MEETINGS

The Kirkwood Public Library has cancelled all in-person youth library programs until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and our March, April, and May 2020 meetings at the library were cancelled.

Meetings are currently being held via the Zoom platform.

We've reached our HavenHouse St. Louis Challenge Goal!

Our knitters have been very productive so far this Winter Break! Yesterday, 10 scarves were donated! 1 red scarf for the Foster Care to Success' Red Scarf Project and 9 scarves for HavenHouse St. Louis! We've now reached our goal of 30 knitted items for HavenHouse St. Louis--in fact, we have 35 items!!! And, members have spent over 1000 hours knitting! We are so excited and proud of everyone!!

December 27th Meeting!!

We had a great meeting today! Five new members came to knit with us at the Kirkwood Bread Co, because of all the rain! We had a great time eating food, knitting, and talking! Several members started scarves or hats or baby afghan squares. Members donated 2 scarves for HavenHouse St. Louis, 1 cowl for HavenHouse, 2 baby hats for Newborns in Need of Eastern Missouri, and 1 pair of baby booties for Newborns in Need. Well done, everyone! Our HavenHouse St. Louis Challenge count is now at 26 items!

Meeting Location Change!!!!

Due to heavy rain, we will not be able to meet at the Kirkwood Public Library tomorrow afternoon. Instead, we will meet at the Kirkwood Bread Company (10221 Manchester Road, 63122) from 1:30 - 3 pm tomorrow.

December 9th, 2015 Meeting!

Today we had a nice meeting! We welcomed a new member into KKIF, and she got started right away on a cozy scarf for HavenHouse St. Louis! Other members worked on headbands for HavenHouse, scarves for HavenHouse, or baby booties for Newborns in Need of Eastern Missouri. One member donated a headband for HavenHouse St. Louis, which brings our HavenHouse Challenge count to 21 items! Great work everyone! Let's make it to 30 items by the end of December!

NIN Donation!!

Yesterday, we donated 5 baby hats, 1 pair of baby booties, 1 baby bib, 1 baby lovey doll, and 1 baby sweater to Newborns in Need of Eastern Missouri!! Great work everyone!

November 22nd KKIF Meeting

We had a nice meeting today! Several members donated items including one member who donated her very first baby hat! Members continued working on previously started projects, started new projects, and finished off projects. The HavenHouse St. Louis Challenge is still going on! Keep making items!

Another Donation from Greater St. Louis Knitters Guild!!

A big thank you to Greater St. Louis Knitters Guild for their generous donation of 43 skeins of yarn to Kids Knitting it Forward! It is perfect for HavenHouse St. Louis items--lots of warm fuzzy yarn for cozy hats and scarves! Thanks again GSLKG!!Also, big shout out to the members who've donated their time and talents and come to our meetings to teach beginning knitters! We appreciate all of you!

Red Scarf Package Sent to Foster Care to Success!!

Today we mailed a giant package of all the 29 red scarves that we've made since KKIF began (March 2015) to Foster Care to Success for their Red Scarf Project!!! We are super excited and extremely proud of all the KKIF knitters! Keep up the fantastic work!

November 11, 2015 Meeting!

We had a very successful meeting tonight! Three new members were taught to knit by three experienced adult volunteers and two other members assisted in the learning process as well! Several members either worked on or began scarves for HavenHouse St. Louis. Remember, the HavenHouse STL Challenge is going on right now and our goal is another 30 items! We have 15 items currently!

Red Scarf Update!

We now have 29 red scarves to donate to Foster Care to Success' Red Scarf Project!!! Way to go everyone! Special shout out to member, Bella, for knitting 10 red scarves! October 25, 2015 KKIF Meeting!

We had a truly fabulous meeting today! We received 9 red scarves; 2 scarves and 1 hat for HavenHouse St. Louis; and an adorable blanket buddy for Newborns in Need of Eastern Missouri!!! Wonderful job everyone! Keep an eye out for new patterns--I'll be posting them here later today:)

October 14th, 2015 Meeting!

Tonight's meeting was a success! Several members started new projects, including one member who learned to knit in the round, and other members finished their projects. Several beautiful items were donated: a hat for HavenHouse St. Louis;  a sweater, hat, and booties set and a bib for Newborns in Need of Eastern MO; and a scarf for the Foster Care to Success' Red Scarf Project! August 23rd Meeting!

Today's Kids Knitting it Forward meeting was a success! Two new members joined and got started knitting a scarf and a baby afghan square. Other members continued to work on their projects, or started new ones with the help of the adult volunteers! One pair of fingerless gloves for HavenHouse St. Louis and three baby afghan squares and one baby hat for Newborns In Need of Eastern MO were donated. Great job everyone!

July 26th Meeting!

We met at the Kirkwood Public Library this afternoon.  One new member joined the group.  She already knew how to knit, so she got started on a red scarf.  Other members brought projects that they were working on.  Two members donated red scarves that they had knitted for the Foster Care to Success' Red Scarf Project.  Many thanks to everyone who attended!

May 13th Meeting

We had two new members come to our May 13th meeting! One was an experienced knitter and the other quickly picked up knitting with the help of an adult volunteer. During the meeting, members worked on knitting red scarves for the Red Scarf Project and items for Newborns in Need of Eastern Missouri. Also, two completed projects were donated!

First Donation to Newborns in Need of Eastern Missouri!!!!

This afternoon, Kids Knitting it Forward made its first donation of knitted items to Newborns in Need of Eastern Missouri! 1 25 x 42 inch baby afghan, 10 baby hats, and 3 pairs of baby booties were donated.

These items are shown below along with two red scarves knitted for the Foster Care to Success' Red Scarf Project. Great job everyone!

Huge Yarn Donation!!

Today I got a giant package in the mail...and inside it was 82 skeins of yarn!! That's a very, very, very generous and awesome donation! Many thanks to Mrs. R. in Connecticut! We will put these supplies to good use.

March 22nd Meeting!

Today we had our second meeting of Kids Knitting it Forward! There were 24 kids & teens and 19 adults!! That's 43 people-a great turnout! Those who had never knitted before were helped by adult volunteers and other experienced kids, and experienced knitters got started on knitting red scarves and baby hats.

March 11th Meeting!

Last night, Kids Knitting it Forward had its very first meeting! It went really well! Adult volunteers paired up with members who had little to no knitting experience, and members who already knew how to knit started on projects such as baby hats and red scarves.   We're off to a great start!

Learn-to-knit club! Kids Knitting it Forward

Calling all kids and teens! Have you ever wanted to learn to knit?

Join Kids Knitting it Forward and learn to knit or improve your existing skills. We will make items like baby socks, hats, and red scarves for charities around the St. Louis area such as Newborns in Need of Eastern Missouri and HavenHouse St. Louis.

Meetings are held one Wednesday evening a month at the Ladue Middle School Library and one Sunday afternoon a month at the Kirkwood Public Library.

Experienced adult knitters attend meetings to assist young knitters. Members under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
